It should apply to TV, too; so many shows can't decide if they're wacky and character-driven or if they're hard boiled dramas, so you end up with Chuck, Pushing Daisies, Burn Notice, etc; shows which switch with no warning between fun and whimsy and then BLAM someone gets machine gunned. Or whatever. Wow, that had nothing to do with your post. Um, oops? Dude, I am SO WITH YOU on the whimsy thing.
